Review: Superdrug Colour Effects Wash In, Wash Out in 6.7 Warm Chocolate Brown

Today I’m going to do a review for you on Superdrug Colour Effects wash-in, wash-out hair colour in Chocolate Brown. I used it before I got my highlights. I liked the idea of a wash-in, wash-out hair colour because I was a bit sick looking at my accidental ombre, but I didn’t want to damage my hair by using a proper hair dye. (LOL, famous last words, I then went and bleached it because I am me).

I presumed this would work just fine in my hair because my hair colour was lighter than the intended colour, but it really didn’t make any noticeable difference. It darkened my ombre by a fraction. My mother noticed, but nobody else did. This was cheap, only €1.49 if I recall correctly, so you’re basically getting what you paid for.

I was disappointed though, because my friend Martina said it worked really well and lasted for quite a while on her hair. Oh well.

Zero out of five stars, would not repurchase.

My 21st Birthday Outfit :D

It was my 21st birthday last Wednesday, and I had my birthday party on Saturday night. It was a completely amazing night, and I couldn’t have asked for more. Everything went perfectly and everyone said they had a great time.

So many people I knew and loved were there, and we spent the whole night dancing and having fun. I was completely overwhelmed by how wonderful everyone was!

Unfortunately between all the excitement and rushing around, I didn’t get a good picture of just me, where you could see my outfit clearly, but I loved it and I want to show it off anyway.

My friends and I

On the left is my lovely boyfriend Frank, and to my right are my wonderful friends Declan, Martina and Hannah, who came all the way from Dublin and Louth to be with me my birthday :D And of course, we can’t forget my little dog Tipsy, who is smiling for the camera :D

My berry lace skater dress and berry velvet boots  are from Boohoo.com, I love that website. It’s so cheap, and hassle-free with free delivery and free returns.

Oh, and I dyed my hair. I was sick looking at the ombre!

21st Birthday Outfit

The above picture is my Daddy and I. My watch is Guess and Frank gave it to me for my birthday. It’s gorgeous and I can’t stop looking at it!

Dancing

And a picture of me dancing with Frank. I loved how my dress flipped out when I danced!

I am so grateful to everybody who came, I couldn’t believe what an amazing night it was. It makes me smile just looking back at these pictures!

Anyway, I hope you let me know what you think of my outfit. I’ll be back on Friday with a haul post to show you what I got for my birthday!

Penneys Autumn/Winter Birthday Haul!

I have a confession to make. I’ve been really irresponsible. It was my birthday on Wednesday, (and my party is tomorrow eeeep!) and I got some birthday money… And it is already spent. Mainly in Penneys. It was an accident, really.

With that in mind however, I love looking at haul videos on YouTube, so hopeful a haul post will be nearly as good!

I get really excited about Autumn/Winter clothes, I just prefer them so much to Summer clothes. It’s just so much easier for a curvy girl to dress in cooler weather. Also, living in Ireland, it’s Autumn/Winter for 9 months of the year, so I suppose I’ve just had more practice with dressing for cooler climes!

I mostly bought clothes, but first of all, I’ll get the random stuff out of the way.

I got sensible black tights, cause I are sensible, a backcombing brush for €1.50 which I’ve wanted for ages, and various shoe-comfiers. I’m really unkind to myself when it comes to the shoes I force myself to wear, so hopefully these will help my poor feetsies?

Also, I got a cute pink belt with little gold hearts, €1.50.

ootd haul 031

Another belt, black with gold chevrons, €1.50.

ootd haul 029

Big gold rocker cross ring. The nail polish is China Glaze but not sure of the shade, sorry!

ootd haul 026

Right, onto the clothes! Sorry about some of the poses. I was trying to get myself out of the ‘three-quarter turn, hand on the hip pose’ rut with varying degrees of success!

Firstly, cute t-shirt material bow dress, €7. Cute on off-days with leggings. If I’m feeling belly-ish I’ll wear a high-waisted skirt over it to hide my sins. Love three-quarter-length sleeves, the most flattering sleeve length.

Also, black leggings. You can never have too many, plus all mine have holes/are see-through/are all baggy at the knees.

ootd haul 024

Red dress with crossover back and little embossed rose pattern, €15.

ootd haul 022

Cosy Bambi crew-neck jumper, €12. Yes, I know the label is still on it. I don’t like taking the label off until I’m actually wearing the item out for the first time, otherwise it’s not special.

ootd haul 020

Bat pattern t-shirt, €3. Can you believe that?! Sure I couldn’t leave it there. It would be lonely.

ootd haul 017

Dodgy pose alert, thought I was being all sexy but I just wasn’t. Sensible/sexy (?? Can’t decide, but it’s warm anyway) polo-neck, €6.

Gorgeous little tartan skirt, can’t remember how much. I think this is my favourite purchase, I LOVE IT! So punk/cute/everything I want in a skirt. I love high waists cause my actual waist is small and all my nomz hang out around the bellybutton area. High waists make me look like all of me is as thin as my thinnest bit!

ootd haul 014

Maroon velvet skater skirt. Love, love, love skater skirts, for all of the above reasons. So cute, so wearable, such a flattering shape. And I love velvet, so rich and old-fashioned.

ootd haul 011

Loved it so much I bought it in two colours, here is the same velvet skirt in black. So goth and lush and I can’t even. Love it <3

ootd haul 010

Monochrome chevron miniskirt, €4.50. Four fifty!! Can you believe it?! Again, I couldn’t leave it. It’s surprisingly wearable and flattering for a big-bummed girl like myself. Makes it look more J-Lo than Mr. Blobby. Comfortable too, and doesn’t roll down or anything throughout the day (I wore this today haha).

Well, that’s it! Thank you for reading. I might be doing another (smaller!) haul soon of my birthday pressies, and also I got some new beauty products you might be interested in seeing.

Let me know what you think!

PS, all of these things were bought in Penneys Athlone, if you’re wondering whether they’re in your local store or anything.

Review: Soap and Glory Glad Hair Day Intensive Conditioner

I’m just after finishing my bottle of Soap and Glory Glad Hair Day Intensive Conditioner for Full, Frizzy or Fried Hair, and I have to say I’m not bowled over by it.

It doesn’t smell good, it has a slightly vinegary smell – I made a grave mistake in not smelling it before buying it because I’m obsessed with smells. The Boots and Soap and Glory websites claim it smells good, but it really doesn’t, at all. It just feels cheap and at nearly €7 I expected more.

I still finished the whole bottle, but I won’t be repurchasing. It seemed to linger in my hair even after rinsing it well, and gave it a kind of sticky-but-dry feeling, actually leading to more frizz, which it’s supposed to prevent. In fact, frizz isn’t even a problem I usually have to deal with! My hair sure is full and fried, but not so frizzy :)

It made no attributable difference to the softness of my hair. There was nothing terribly wrong with it, but it just didn’t feel any different from your average supermarket conditioner, and it smelled nasty.

The packaging, of course, was incredible, but the product was only okay, at a push. One out of five stars.

Has anybody else tried this conditioner? Do you agree with me that it’s crap? Or do you swear by it? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

OOTD: Crazy Dog Lady Secretary

My style is weird, and crazy. Some days I look like a goth queen who should be in a Norwegian black metal collective. Some days I look like a children’s television presenter. I wore this to work. Why limit yourself?

Outfit of the Day

Turquoise vest: Penneys

Cardigan: Charity shop

Sausage dog skirt: Penneys, reduced to a fiver

Shoes: Penneys

Outfit of the Day

I think I single-handedly prove that you can dress really uniquely from Penneys. I know that Penneys-haters (and, amazingly, they do exist) claim not to like it because ‘you see everyone wearing the same thing,’ but that’s just laziness.

Yes, other people will have the same item of clothing, but you’ve just got to be creative about what you pair it with.

Jewellery

Coloured bracelet: Monsoon Accessorize, €16. I seriously love this bracelet so much. It’s about three times the price I would normally pay for an accessory but I wanted it really bad and it goes with everything. I saw my aunt wearing it and it looked so classy and lovely, I had to go out and get it.

Gold bracelet:  €6, River Island

Nail polish: MAC Cool Reserve. Seriously love this grurple (grey/purple) polish. I had to get this from America on eBay and I think it’s discontinued and I loooooove it. I love colours where you can’t tell what colour it is!

Sparrow Necklace

Necklace: Penneys

Sausage Dog Pencil Skirt

Close-up of the doggy pattern. It’s a bit wrinkled because I had been wearing it all day by the time I got the chance to take pics, but I think it’s so cute and different! :)

Review: Kaeso Beauty Cleansers and Moisturiser

I got the Kaeso Beauty Calming White Nettle, Mulberry and Pomegranate Cleanser for Sensitive Skin as a present from my aunt, and I finished the bottle.

I loved this stuff, I thought it was excellent. It smelled really clean and fresh and had a thick enough consistency (but it’s definitely not a balm all the same). It got my skin really clean, and over the weeks that I was using it I noticed a huge difference in my skin. My skin used to be dehydrated, scaly and flaky, and now it’s smooth and hydrated. I finished the whole bottle. Five out of five stars.

In fact, I loved it so much that I repurchased it, sort of. I went out looking for the Kaeso Beauty products, assuming they would be prohibitively expensive, only to discover that their cleansers were only €8. I got the Kaeso Beauty Hydrating Balm Mint, Cotton and Aloe Vera Cleanser for Normal to Dry Skin to replace my last one, and I have to say I love it too.

To be honest, I don’t notice any difference at all between the two cleansers, but I’m still very happy. They’re so affordable and you’re getting a fantastic product for your money. It makes my skin look and feel so much better, so I’m giving it 5 stars.

PS: My aunt also gave me the Kaeso Beauty Calming White Nettle, Mulberry and Pomegranate Moisturiser for Sensitive Skin, and I feel the exact same way about it.

OOTD: My ‘About Me’ Picture

So this is the picture I’m using as my …profile picture? Display picture? I don’t know. The main picture on my blog that puts a face to all the ramblings.

I actually wore it to work and it’s comfortable, and I think it’s flattering because skater skirts are very forgiving – sitting on the narrowest part, the waist, and then flaring out past the wobbly bits, if that’s what you want to do.

Also, I never realised my widow’s peak was so sharp.
